I’m pretty sure Scarlet O’Hara made a dress out of those drapes.

I feel that I can not leave the discussion of my adventures in New Orleans without at least writing about the lovely hotel we stayed at, La Pavillon.

The place was GORGEOUS. Statues abounded, lush greenery, and a lobby that looked like it was ripped out of a mid eighteenth century French chateau. I appreciated very much that this hotel didn’t feel commercialized. It had its own character, and I loved everything about that character.

The rooms were small but comfortable and came with some key things: a mini fridge and a safe. The beds were pretty damn cozy and the bathrooms had the kind of hot water where it might burn your skin but that’s exactly the way I like my showers. However, there was a con in that the lighting in the room was terrible.

This photo shows almost the entire room. Almost.

They had a rooftop pool that I failed to get photos of. More statues surrounded the poolside and it felt like a little oasis at the top of the hotel.

They also served HOT CHOCOLATE and peanut butter jelly sandwiches at night. HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS?! It’s like they knew everything I wanted and desired from a hotel.

There was a beautiful park across the street that they apparently throw parties at every Wednesday.

The concierge service is amazing. We could get tours to pick us up right outside our hotel. They would set up pretty much anything we asked and did it quickly. LOVED THIS.

The best part though? It was in walking distance of the French Quarter. Far enough away that you weren’t woken up in the middle of the night by party goers and bar hoppers but close enough that it was only a 5-10 minute walk.

I really don’t have anything bad to say about La Pavillon. Oh, and their room service was TASTY.

P.S. While staying there we wandered downstairs one day to see a Christmas tree in the lobby. Since Christmas was several months away this was weird. Turns out they were filming a movie (Dirt, the story of Motley Crue). Ramsey Bolton from Game of Thrones was there, but all I got was this photo of him hanging out a window as he filmed a scene.

  • Oh. My. Gosh!! How cool that you were at the hotel they were filming Dirt at. It’s so beautiful!! The rooftop pool sounds amazing. & hot chocolate & PB&J’s?! Unbeatable!

    • Honestly I was like a kid when I realized there was hot chocolate and PB&J. So unique!

Definitely an experience to see a set and even see some of the filming. I will of course have to watch the movie!

      • Hahha I would have been the same way! The Dirt film is really good. I enjoyed it!

        • I will definitely have to put it on my watch list!

We kept trying to find ways to hide something in the background to see if we could get away with it being in the movie, and it was a fail. But hey, still fun to scheme! Lol

          • LOL that sounds so fun. I would have so loved to stay in that hotel at the time of filming!

          • It was fun! Particularly when they started throwing things out of the windows! Lol

  • New Orleans is such an wonderful place. It looks like an amazing hotel!

  • Amazing! This is the vibe I imagine when I think of New Orleans. The hot chocolate and peanut butter jelly, the Christmas tree and an intensely hated major villain, it’s all so deliciously random
