Cargo – Blush in “Catalina”

Pale girls, look no further. I have found your blush. It’s this sweet baby doll pink that can either give you that just-been-out-in-cold-weather flush or that healthy coloring that tricks people into thinking you work out and eat healthy. It’s great because you have to try really hard to overdo this. Like REALLY HARD. It definitely fits the “buildable color” category more than the “intensely pigmented” side of things. I love that I can slap it on in the morning, without having to be careful with it. Ive reached for it every day this past month, and I’m falling more

An Open Letter to Seattle, Washington

Dear Seattle, I visit you occasionally but it should really be more often. However, depending on the day and the hour (and, let’s face it–traffic), you can be kind of a pain-in-the-ass to travel to. Besides, you can be a wee bit expensive when I decide to do things like buy artisanal wines, macarons, bread, cheeses and meats so I can be bougie and have the best movie snack EVER. Unfortunately, you are the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak. Although I’ve usually bemoaned the fact that you and my favorite piroshki stand are roughly an hour and a half away,

ALL the Kitten Pictures

I recently announced my adoption of two beautiful kittens, Callie (short for Calvin Klein) and Evie (short for Yves Saint Laurent). Check them out in all their wonderful kitty-ness! This was the VERY first picture we saw of them. They are the two in the back. It was this that made my fiancé and I fall in love. Little Miss Callie, in the flesh (fur?). This was her at about 10 weeks old. Can’t you just see the sass in her? She will often meow for her sister and for us. She has to know everyone is okay. She’s an

Why I Shouldn’t Be Allowed at Hockey Games

Yesterday I went to my very first hockey game. It was the Seattle Thunderbirds and they were going up against a team from Portland. I’d watched a few NHL games on television and figured it’d be a good fit for me since I’m pretty barbaric. I mean, my fiancé and I shared our first kiss at a bar while watching Floyd Mayweather teach Conor McGregor a thing or two about boxing. I wouldn’t be surprised if my ancestors were amongst the spectators at the Coliseum, giving a giant hurrah everytime blood spilled. So you’d think grown men with hockey sticks

We Have Kittens!

Ever since I moved in with that hot guy I call my fiancé, I have been jonesing for kittens. Like, waking up and meowing at my significant other so he could experience my version of kittens EVERY DAY before realizing the real thing would be an improvement. Look, sometimes crazy works to get you what you want, okay? But Lord help me, these were the most difficult kittens to get. EVER. For probably the first time in the history of the world, there was a shortage of kittens. WTF. There is never a shortage of kittens. That’s why Drew Carey

Five Favorite Things – January 2020 (Super Late Edition!)

My Engagement Ring – This will probably be on every favorites list forever and ever. How could it not be? It symbolizes so much love! The Great Gatsby – My latest acquisition to my collection of leather-bound books. As a result, I am currently reading all about the woes of Gatsby and his tangled attractions to Ms. Daisy Buchanan. My Wall of Prints – So I have zero capabilities of hanging pictures straight — BUT, I had to give it my best (lopsided) effort. I picked these prints up in New York City and finally got around to framing them.

Trash Talk #2

Guess what?! I have more empties and garbage to show you! Skin&Co – Truffle Therapy Cleansing Oil I was sooooo upset with myself because I didn’t fully seal this bad boy and it *somehow* tipped over in the middle of the night (I’m blaming the fiancé) and a third of it’s contents were lost to the bathroom counter! I know I have too many products anyway but I was actually thoroughly enjoying this oil! It was taking off my makeup and dare I say leaving my skin moisturized at the same time?! This was definitely good to both me and

Books: Emma

I’ve done the (un)lovely pleasure of reading this classic so you don’t have too! Aren’t I the BEST?! First off, Emma is the most hypocritical character you will ever meet. EVER. She thinks she’s a matchmaker that can best even Cupid (spoiler: she is terrible at matchmaking). Also: She thinks she is doing a service for her friend, Harriet, whom is, well, in a lesser place in society by trying to hook her up with men higher up the ladder so to speak. Why is it so important that Harriet climb the social ladder? Because Emma wouldn’t be able to

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting Gel with 8% AHA

Anyone remember when I discussed the disappearing blackheads and the Triple Action BHA Gel? Well, I decided to try it’s cousin, the skin perfecting gel that works with AHAs instead of BHAs and now I’m ready to reveal… MY OPINION. (Overly dramatic but it’s hard to spice up a beauty review sometimes). Let’s just say… This did everything the BHA stuff didn’t do. And what I mean by that, is it purged the holy hell out of my skin and then left me looking like a ate some kind of glow-bomb. Which I am definitely not opposed to. I mean,

Five Favorite Things – December 2019

Our Record Player – We finally had the good sense to purchase a record player for all the LPs we were randomly collecting. Yes, we had been collecting vinyl for well over a year before deciding we should probably have something to play them on. The music quality is insane and the only way to listen to Adele is on this baby. It’s an experience. Kerastase Magic Night Serum – Talk about the ultimate leave in treatment! Leaves my hair feeling thoroughly conditioned and less like I’ve fried it with hair dye and straighteners. My hair feels… healthy! and manageable?!
