Punitions

from Paris Sweets by Dorie Greenspan Punitions, or “Punishments” in English, is a butter cookie which lends itself well to different topping. According to Dorie Greenspan and her research, this cookie gained i’s name through grandmothers wheedling children by telling them to take their punishment and giving them a cookie. Cute, eh? That was SO not my childhood. And like any sane person on hearing the title of the cookie, my boyfriend said, “Are you sure you want to make those? They sound… ominous.” But I went THERE. I made them. And you know what? They tasted like hella good

Happy Halloween!

I will be asking Alexa to play “Halloween Music” and marathoning all the classics such as “The Nightmare Before Christmas”, “Hocus Pocus”, and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. Since I’m great at multi-tasking, I’ll also hand out gobs of candy to the lucky kids who ring my doorbell. Everything’s all decorated and the porch light will be on! Hope you enjoy the holiday and stay safe!

Blogs & Vlogs: Little Fears and Madeleine Loves

Little Fears I feel like it’s important to tell you all about the Little Fears, partly because Halloween is upon us, and partly because the Little Fears may be coming to a (somewhat) end. If you like dark comedy and bad puns, than you’ll enjoy these doodles. They’re like a single pane comic strip that will make you both groan and laugh. Madeleine Loves (and her YouTube is here) Madeleine Spencer writes this blog that centers around beauty. She also throws in some articles about anxiety which I, as a highly anxious person, appreciate! The kicker is that she also

Face Full of Reviews #3

NARS – Illuminator in “BLKR” I put this ALL OVER MY FACE first thing, and I love the healthy glow it gives. I felt all radiant and gorgeous like I was ready to face the world AND the party I was about to go to. Cargo – One Base Concealer + Foundation I feel like I’ve talked about this product ad nauseam, but I feel it’s worth a mention that I didn’t use foundation (I don’t care what the title says, this particular product is only good for concealing), and only dabbed this on my discolored spots. I loved how

5 Favorite Things – October 2019

Seneca Naturals Oatmeal Soap Bar – This has been so gentle to my pissed off skin that I can’t even tell you what a relief it was to use this in the shower. The gentle exfoliation has also been a bit of a game changer to my skin’s health. Deborah Lippmann Venus in Furs Nail Polish – This is so vampy and delicious, its been totally appropriate for the fall weather and the spooky vibes of Halloween. MAC Matte Lipstick in Kinkster – I truly did not expect to actually wear this as often as I have, but it’s fall

Week in Review #12

I was supposed to get my hair cut but then it got cancelled. I was supposed to see a haunted house but it got cancelled. I’m supposed to go to a party tonight. Who wants to bet it gets cancelled? Heeee, I hope not, there are going to be tacos and kittens there! See what *wasn’t* cancelled this week! I’ve got something new started with Blogs & Vlogs I love. I decided to discuss I Covet Thee and Hunida’s Blog. I love them both. I took a walk on the elegant side of things and made almond orange Panna Cotta.

Ground Bison Taco Salad

My man has a heritage straight out of Mexico. So anytime I make a recipe that is strongly influenced by flavors from south of the border, he gets pretty hyped. So you kinda know that when I said I was making ground bison taco salad, that he got pumped. And the recipe used brought the FLAVOR with cumin, paprika, chili powder, and some good old fashioned salt and pepper. It also was great to switch things up and use bison, which proved to be fun to try but really, you could make this with ground beef and be golden. But

10 Random Facts About Me

Like many kids who grew up in the nineties, I had a superhero crush on Sailor Moon. I was going to be her, except less ditzy and without the meatball head hairstyle. Plus, her boots were so on point, I wanted them in my closet. My first high end makeup piece was from Clinique when I was fourteen. It was their Superbalanced Foundation and I both treasured it and used it up quickly because, I NEEDED TO WEAR IT EVERYDAY. I rub my thighs aggressively when I’m stressed. I don’t know why this habit happened but there it is. I’m

Why I’m Winning at Life

I just did the move in with my boyfriend and for awhile I’ve had STUFF everywhere. Stuffed in corners, overflowing out of Sterilite bins, and bags that desperately needed unpacking. I ordered a bookshelf and some containers, the used my storage jiu jitsu skills and now everything has a place. THANK GOD. Someone told me I’ve been looking smaller. I got to say, “Oh, I’ve been working out.” I’ve been waiting to give that response, because I thought I’d sound all posh and stuff, but really, I just sounded like a giant nerd. Whatevs. I still look like I lost

The Quality Inn and Suites – a Hotel in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

I’ll be honest. My man and I are snobs when it comes to where we stay. We like boutique hotels. Places with character. Places where you feel a bit fancier than you normally would. So I bet you’re wondering why the hell we stayed at the Quality Inn and Suites. Welllll, there’s a LIMIT to how much we are willing to spend and I am sorry, but hotels in Rehoboth Beach are ridiculous. No way in hell am I spending $400-$500 for one night’s stay. Are you kidding me? It’s not like it’s the Ritz in the middle of New
