I have an obsession with handmade bar soap. I like to travel to different places and buy it from different locations. I like to chat up the owners and buy their most unique bars. I like it so much that I even make my own soap. As you could probably imagine, I have oodles of soap. Thus, it takes a lot for me to return to a vendor and buy more which is what I did with this company. This is the first bar I’m reviewing from them but I would like to say unequivocally that I truly do love this brand. When I

Week in Review #1
This week was quite exciting for me! I moved to self hosting and officially have my own domain! No more having WordPress in my URL. It’s officially www.kristenexperiments.com. This means that I am now wading through code and trying to fix whatever mistakes I made in the transition, but most importantly I want to make sure that I keep my subscribers and the wonderful friendships I’ve made here! I also successfully completed another Barre class! On top of it, I sorta-kinda almost did well too! Except for the bursts of laughter during the planks… I attempted a Blueberry and Mint Smoothie. Final
Self Portrait #4: I’m Weird
If you are wondering why I’d do a post explaining my weirdness, blame the Eclectic Contrarian. He had the gall to nominate me for a challenge in which I should post something weird. Sure, I could’ve gotten away with posting a goofy meme or YouTube video but I like to go above and beyond (and not follow the rules). Okay, okay, so it’s more I got inspired instead of doing the challenge at all, whatever. Basically, I’m just going to let my freak flag fly. First off, never allow me to look up conspiracy theories, urban legends and DEFINITELY don’t let
Just an FYI
I have decided to attempt to build my own site and can I just say I am not tech savvy? I don’t know how I can be described as a Millennial when my understanding of computers and all things digital stopped at Microsoft Word years ago. However, it is a time for learning as I enter this tech era that’s been going on for awhile. This is mostly to inform you that I am attempting to migrate followers to the new platform. You may or may not have to resubscribe if you want to continue getting notifications of new posts
Paula’s Choice – Triple Action Dark Spot Eraser 2% BHA Gel
I woke up a few weeks ago, looked in the mirror, and wandered when I got freckles on my nose. Then I looked closer and realized they weren’t freckles… They were jumbo sized blackheads that were managing to trap every bit of dirt and debris that encountered my skin. Gnarly, right? Obviously, the first thing I did was wrack my brain on what I changed in my skincare and I realized I had stopped using one thing: Paula’s Choice Triple Action Dark Spot Eraser 2% BHA Gel. Now you KNOW this immediately re-entered my skincare routine and I’m happy to
Barre Class, Part 2
I attended my second barre class, and I feel like the hellaciousness was reduced significantly from last week. Then again, the instructor had stated that last week was nearly impossible for even her and that maaaaybe modifications would be made so no one would die of over-exertion. True story. This was not easy but it was easier than last week. I was at least cognizant enough to notice this time that the room was full of mirrors so I could see how absolutely freaking ridiculous I looked. When things got tough, I started laughing hysterically. I don’t know if it
Fourth of July in Washington D.C.
It’s taken me over a month to post about the Fourth of July, but I DID IT (eventually) and here it is. This was going to be a special fourth of July for me. It had been on my bucket list to celebrate our nation *in* the nation’s capital for a while. Unfortunately, it turned into a political monster with the announcement of tanks and a salute to America, but all I really cared about was the fireworks. I’m so basic. Everyone gathered on the lawn of the Washington Monument. There was definitely a laidback party atmosphere. Although I couldn’t
Blueberry and Mint Smoothie
Blueberry and Mint Smoothie from The Vegan Cookbook for Beginners Since joining Barre class I figured I should be eating healthier but that is so much easier said than done. Of course I’m going to eat donuts and slather everything with butter then eat a piece of broccoli covered in Ranch and congratulate myself on my healthy eating choice. Which is why I decided to buy a vegan cookbook. I have zero intentions of actually becoming a vegan. I just figure if I make the recipes in this book, they’ll be devoid of bacon and ice cream, two things which are
My Week
My week has been mostly low-key, with unpacking my bags after returning from Eastern Washington. Does anyone want to explain to me how to not overpack? Because I reign queen supreme of stuffing any suitcase full to the brim. LIES. It was low-key until I made the mistake of joining a barre class. We went to McMenanimins on Friday and found a hidden speakeasy bar. It’s teeny tiny but still awesome that we discovered a secret. Plus, I was still traumatized from Barre class and decided a vodka tonic was the only thing that could make me feel better. We also went
Cosmetic Ingredient: Avobenzone
We are smack dab in the middle of summer and the heat may or may not be frying your absolute brains out. What’s important to remember while the sun is shining it’s brightest is to apply your sunscreen! And one of the most popular active ingredients in sunscreen is avobenzone. Not to sound too scientific (I’m about to go geek-tastic on you), avobenzone is a synthetic dibenzoylmethane derivative. It can also be known as butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane or Parsol 1789. If you, like me, just had your head explode trying to read out those chemicals, let me simplify it. Avobenzone is
