Chouquettes (Sugar Puffs)

I think we all, at some point in the middle of being locked in at home, will run out of frozen dinner and start to actually cook. Or in my case, BAKE.

I love to bake. The end result is most likely yummy and full of sugar, two elements that I love to have incorporated into my food. You can see why chouquettes sounded good. They’re sugar puffs. That must mean yummy. Sugar + yummy makes me happy.

My chouquettes turned out… a little deflated. Let’s just say that they did NOT look like what I saw on Chocolate and Zucchini.

This is what failure looks like.

They started off as perfection, they were perfectly puffed and looked delightful enough to eat! Then I excitedly opened the oven door, forgetting the advice on the Chocolate and Zucchini blog about slowly opening the oven door, and deflation happened. My bad.

They tasted like very sweet… pancakes! Totally enjoyable still, but I lost my zest when they lost their oomph.

  1. I do the same thing while baking. I get too excited and can’t wait for all the sugary goodness and go too fast! 🤣 At least they were still good, though!

  2. Oh that’s too bad they deflated, but they still sound yummy!
I am trying so hard to resist baking as I’m the only one here to eat it all!
