I have reached that stage of adulthood where I desperately want to be one of those women who wakes up looking effortlessly polished.
You know the type. Perfect skin. Naturally flushed cheeks. Dark, fluttery lashes. Probably drinks water recreationally.
Meanwhile, I have accepted that if I want people to believe I have eyelashes, I generally have to paint them onto my face every morning.
So when I came across ColorSport Lash Tint, I thought I’d found my shortcut. The promise is simple enough: tint your lashes at home and skip the mascara. Sign me up.
Naturally, I decided to order the brown version because, for once in my life, I wanted to embrace subtlety.
That was my first mistake.
The Quick and Dirty Summary:
Packaging: Lots of cardboard and tubes. Think kids chemistry set does beauty
Texture: To be honest, I don’t even know how to categorize lash tint texture.
Scent: Didn’t smell it because that didn’t sound like a good idea.
Price: Roughly $25-$30 per kit. Each kit contains 12 application.
Claims: “Enhance your natural lashes with Colorsport 30 day lash tint. Darker, fuller lashes for up to 30 days.”

The Application Process Is… A Lot
If you’ve never tinted your lashes before, allow me to explain.
This isn’t a swipe-and-go beauty product.
It’s a whole production.
Mix the color. Mix the developer. Carefully apply it without blinding yourself. Wait. Remove it. Hope you didn’t accidentally dye your eyelid in the process.
The instructions aren’t difficult exactly, but they’re fiddly enough that I found myself wondering how much I was actually saving compared to just… putting on mascara for thirty seconds every morning.
By the time I’d finished, I felt less like I was doing self-care and more like I was completing a Masters level chemistry practical.
The Results
Then came the big reveal.

I genuinely wasn’t sure anything had happened.
Now, to be fair, I chose brown. My natural lashes are already fairly dark at the root and then go blonde at the ends, so asking brown dye to dramatically transform them may have been optimistic.
The effect (if there even was one) was so subtle that I spent an embarrassing amount of time squinting into different mirrors under different lighting trying to convince myself I could see a difference.
Was there slightly more definition?
Maybe.
Did anyone else notice?
Almost certainly not.
Did it last thirty days?
*Laughs* Not even close.
Would Black Have Worked Better?
Maybe?
And here’s the problem.
I have absolutely no desire to find out.
Not because I think black wouldn’t produce more noticeable results (it almost certainly should) but because I don’t want to repeat the application process.
The payoff simply wasn’t worth the effort for me.
Beauty products don’t necessarily have to be quick, but they do have to earn the inconvenience. Spending fifteen or twenty minutes mixing tiny pots of dye only to end up with lashes that looked… basically the same… isn’t exactly a compelling use of my evening.
Who Might Like It?
If you have very fair or blonde lashes, I can maybe see this being more worthwhile if it actually lasts. Brown or black tint might create a much bigger contrast than it did on my lashes.
Likewise, if you genuinely hate wearing mascara and don’t mind a bit of DIY beauty maintenance, this could become part of your routine.
I am apparently neither of those people.
Final Verdict
ColorSport Lash Tint may not be a bad product for everyone… But it was bad for me.
It simply answered a question I didn’t know I had:
“How much effort am I willing to invest to avoid applying mascara?”
The answer, it turns out, is… not this much.
Between the fiddly application, the cleanup, and the nearly invisible results, I found myself reaching for my mascara again the very next day.
Sometimes the old-fashioned method is old-fashioned because it takes thirty seconds and actually works.
