My man has a heritage straight out of Mexico. So anytime I make a recipe that is strongly influenced by flavors from south of the border, he gets pretty hyped.
So you kinda know that when I said I was making ground bison taco salad, that he got pumped. And the recipe used brought the FLAVOR with cumin, paprika, chili powder, and some good old fashioned salt and pepper.
It also was great to switch things up and use bison, which proved to be fun to try but really, you could make this with ground beef and be golden. But bison seems just a wee bit cooler to say. Like you went above and beyond when you really just did the same damn thing you’d do with beef.
Anywho, add some beans, avocado, cheese, sour cream, yada yada yada, you know the drill. Everyone loves tacos and a taco salad is almost all the good stuff. (I say almost because you lose the taco shell which is basically one giant unsalted chip. YUM).
If you want to try the exact recipe I used, you can find it at Reclaiming Yesterday.
P.S. I strongly recommend looking at the original recipe’s picture because mine is pretty awful looking. I need help with making food look presentable.
Flippin’ awesome!!
It was pretty legit.
I’ve never had bison before. This actually sounds pretty good!
It definitely was! I had no idea it was just sold in grocery stores. I thought I’d have to find it in some specialty market or something but nope!
Bison is so healthy but expensive.
Very true!
