My Style Icons: Dakota Fanning

Although I enjoy fashion, I don’t always push the boundaries as much as I’d like to. Most of the time, I don’t even try to push them at all. I quite like my leggings and graphic tee shirts with converse shoes. Unoriginal, uninspiring and flat out B-O-R-I-N-G.

Which is why I wish I could do fashion like Dakota Fanning. Sheesh, even as a kid she was quite the fashion darling. She has a knack for always looking super comfortable while dressing with some flair. She also takes the basics and makes them… less basic. Hers is a fashion I *think* I could pull off. What I can’t pull off seems to be her ability to go from grungy leather and plaids, to looking angelic in an evening gown.

Her street style is much edgier than her red carpet looks would have you believe. I also appreciate that it looks like she throws on whatever and leaves the house. I see some celebrities on the street and it looks like the choosing of their outfit must have been an ordeal.

And she knows her pieces are great and knows how to dress up those basics again and again. Check it, she uses the same bag and a similar jacket. Keeping it real Dakota.

She even knows how to dress up but casually. Doesn’t the above look scream “FIRST DATE!” Like, “Oh, I just dress like this and it happens to look casual and sophisticated. It’s not like I had to try.”

Since I am talking fashion, you know I had to include photos from her appearances at various Met Galas. I think this flower covered dress makes her look so ethereal and magical. I don’t think I would’ve liked this dress if anyone else had worn it.

And I can’t help but think she looks like the love child of a Greek goddess and an angel. Vastly different from the leather coat, plaid loving Dakota from earlier pictures!
