I can’t tell you how long I dithered over how to describe the color of this nail polish.

At first I thought “This is so what a vampire who’s part of the Volturi clan would wear!” But then I looked at the first coat of nail polish and thought “Blueberries! Blueberries that have been squished!” The squish then triggered a memory of an I Love Lucy episode where her and Ethel are stomping on grapes to make wine which of course led me to think, “No, these nails are the color of red wine!”

Which now has me wanting to tell you that my nails were the color of a vampire who had just sucked the blood of an intoxicated, blueberry-wine loving Lucille Ball. I’m guessing this is not quite the description you were looking for.

Pardon my terrible paint job. To be fair, it photographs way darker. It actually has more of a reddish tint than what is shown.

So suffice to say it’s a mixture of all three. Vampy and dark to rock during the fall, but classy enough that I feel it would suit the Christmas holidays just as well. One coat gives you the lighter, blueberry stained look and two coats give you that deeper wine flavoring. I probably should’ve done three coats but I didn’t. If you’re following along, three coats are full on “OMG, VAMPIRE!” nails and I am just. not. ready. for all that sex appeal.

You can find this polish at Deborah Lippmann.
