Does anyone ever pretend to be a witch brewing a potion whenever they make soup? Is that just me? Because I totally cackled my way through making this soup.

See, the thing is, I splurged and got myself a treat in the form of a Le Creuset Dutch Oven. Have you seen them? They are a thing of beauty! They are a piece of cookware artwork! So I pulled it out to use as my cauldron. Every potion/soup needs a cauldron.

I take boring pictures… I was just too eager to eat it to make it pretty.

I chose a recipe from Le Creuset because clearly I was feeling a theme. My feast of choice? Butternut Squash Soup. You see, I liked it because the first ingredient listed was butter and the next to last ingredient listed was maple syrup. I’m not worried about it being healthy since it has vegetables and other things I don’t normally eat on a day to day basis. (Sarcasm much?)

Into the soup (potion) went onions (eye of newt), carrots (wool of bat), butternut squash (tongue of dog), and sweet potatoes (toe of frog). From there, I got to whisper “Double, double, toil and trouble” as essence of delicousness emanated from my Dutch oven. And yes, I clearly am familiar with the Song of the Witches.

It was quite good, though I confess, I ended up saying “Abracadabra!” and sprinkling Goldfish crackers into the soup because I need to magically turn EVERYTHING into junk food. But WOW, did those crackers make the soup yummy!

This would be SUCH a treat in the fall!
