Creamy Crab Croquettes

Many times I choose a recipe simply because I think it’ll be a challenge. You could think of it almost as an invitation to fail, because failure means I learned something. Spoiler alert: I did not fail. This recipe was oh-so-delicous. So delicious that my significant other became homesick. It reminded him too much of food served at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. It was the best compliment he could’ve given me. The recipe of course is for Creamy Crab Croquettes stolen from Beyond the Plate. We couldn’t decide which way was better–fresh out of the fryer or straight out

Adventures in Shopping: TopShop T-Shirts

You know, I’ve heard a lot about TopShop but have never actually shopped there. After perusing their website for awhile, I realized it was more or less a trendy rabbit hole where I found myself saying things like, “Why so many crop tops?” “What is that supposed to be?” and surprisingly enough, “Why are all the t-shirts so boring?” I mean, how many solid colored t-shirts in different lengths of crop top could one store sell anyway? Clearly, t-shirts is not the section I should’ve been wandering around in but that’s what I’ve got today. The t-shirts I would purchase

Five Favorite Things – February 2020

My Kitten Callie – I adore her. She has conversations with me and demands to know where I am if she can’t find me. She’s obsessed with giving me cuddles and likes sleeping on top of my head. She loves her sister and makes everyone happy with her instant purring! My Kitten Evie – Evie just wants to make sure every one is happy. Furthermore, she likes to sleep in my bed under the covers with head poking out and everything. Do you know how insanely adorable this is?! She greets me with a giant “MEOW!” every time I come

Jewelry at the National Museum of Natural History – Washington D.C.

I didn’t take many pictures, because the gemstones were so bright they were actually blinding my camera. Check it out. Can you imagine the bling that was happening in real life? I feel like it was damaging to the eyes to look at these babies straight on! You really do have to see these gems in the flesh to realize just how brilliant they are! Obviously, we had to stop by and see the Hope Diamond. You know, the one that seems to be cursed and kills everyone. It is huge and ostentatious. There is some jewelry that I lust

Cargo – Blush in “Catalina”

Pale girls, look no further. I have found your blush. It’s this sweet baby doll pink that can either give you that just-been-out-in-cold-weather flush or that healthy coloring that tricks people into thinking you work out and eat healthy. It’s great because you have to try really hard to overdo this. Like REALLY HARD. It definitely fits the “buildable color” category more than the “intensely pigmented” side of things. I love that I can slap it on in the morning, without having to be careful with it. Ive reached for it every day this past month, and I’m falling more

An Open Letter to Seattle, Washington

Dear Seattle, I visit you occasionally but it should really be more often. However, depending on the day and the hour (and, let’s face it–traffic), you can be kind of a pain-in-the-ass to travel to. Besides, you can be a wee bit expensive when I decide to do things like buy artisanal wines, macarons, bread, cheeses and meats so I can be bougie and have the best movie snack EVER. Unfortunately, you are the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak. Although I’ve usually bemoaned the fact that you and my favorite piroshki stand are roughly an hour and a half away,

ALL the Kitten Pictures

I recently announced my adoption of two beautiful kittens, Callie (short for Calvin Klein) and Evie (short for Yves Saint Laurent). Check them out in all their wonderful kitty-ness! This was the VERY first picture we saw of them. They are the two in the back. It was this that made my fiancé and I fall in love. Little Miss Callie, in the flesh (fur?). This was her at about 10 weeks old. Can’t you just see the sass in her? She will often meow for her sister and for us. She has to know everyone is okay. She’s an

Why I Shouldn’t Be Allowed at Hockey Games

Yesterday I went to my very first hockey game. It was the Seattle Thunderbirds and they were going up against a team from Portland. I’d watched a few NHL games on television and figured it’d be a good fit for me since I’m pretty barbaric. I mean, my fiancé and I shared our first kiss at a bar while watching Floyd Mayweather teach Conor McGregor a thing or two about boxing. I wouldn’t be surprised if my ancestors were amongst the spectators at the Coliseum, giving a giant hurrah everytime blood spilled. So you’d think grown men with hockey sticks

We Have Kittens!

Ever since I moved in with that hot guy I call my fiancé, I have been jonesing for kittens. Like, waking up and meowing at my significant other so he could experience my version of kittens EVERY DAY before realizing the real thing would be an improvement. Look, sometimes crazy works to get you what you want, okay? But Lord help me, these were the most difficult kittens to get. EVER. For probably the first time in the history of the world, there was a shortage of kittens. WTF. There is never a shortage of kittens. That’s why Drew Carey

Five Favorite Things – January 2020 (Super Late Edition!)

My Engagement Ring – This will probably be on every favorites list forever and ever. How could it not be? It symbolizes so much love! The Great Gatsby – My latest acquisition to my collection of leather-bound books. As a result, I am currently reading all about the woes of Gatsby and his tangled attractions to Ms. Daisy Buchanan. My Wall of Prints – So I have zero capabilities of hanging pictures straight — BUT, I had to give it my best (lopsided) effort. I picked these prints up in New York City and finally got around to framing them.
