Ever since I moved in with that hot guy I call my fiancé, I have been jonesing for kittens. Like, waking up and meowing at my significant other so he could experience my version of kittens EVERY DAY before realizing the real thing would be an improvement. Look, sometimes crazy works to get you what you want, okay?
But Lord help me, these were the most difficult kittens to get. EVER. For probably the first time in the history of the world, there was a shortage of kittens. WTF. There is never a shortage of kittens. That’s why Drew Carey and Bob Barker are always telling people to get their cats neutered/spayed. It’s out of control.
But, our options were getting to the point where we would have to ship kittens to us from California and Florida. For real. What universe is this?!
And then I had to contend with the fiancé. He had very specific quota that needed to be met. He didn’t want another grey/black striped cat. The cat had to be talkative. Preferably a kitten (which were nonexistent). Oh, and playful. And not scared of humans. Do you know how hard it is to adopt a cat from a shelter that isn’t half feral and terrified of humans?!
Anyway, we finally found a litter of kittens just an hour’s drive away. They won our hearts. We applied to adopt them immediately. Then we were told that at least two dozen others had already sent in requests and the lady who got to choose the adoptive family was the “old picky lady” who rarely finds people good enough.
Please believe I sent the most adoring email that explained why we were more perfect than possible. And thankfully, these cuties are ours. And now they wake up my future husband with real cat meows and cuddling. LOTS OF MEOWS. Because they love humans.
We are happy beyond belief!
He wanted to name them Callie (for California, his home state), and Evie (because the grey one reminds him of a Pokemon, OMG face palm). I told him those names were great but that Callie was short for Calvin Klein and Evie was short for Yves Saint Laurent. That’s right, I’m still a designer snob at heart.
OMG yaaaas love those names! Congratulations on the kittens! Can we have pictures of Callie and Evie? Pretty please?
Of course! I will have to post in the next couple of dats!
Yes….pics please?
I will definitely have to dig some up!
Oh they are so cute!! I love your names:)
Thank you! They certainly fit our kittens personalities!
Congrats !
Thank you! They are so sweet!
I’m so glad you got kittens! How exciting!! I love the names. 😀
They are SO sweet. They greet me everytime I come home!
I wish I could get my husband to say YES to kittens. He loves cats and kittens too, but he is terrified of having cat hair everywhere at our place. He also knows what cat farts smell like, so it’s pretty much impossible to convince him.
I’ve been meowing for ages…
To be fair, cat farts *are* pretty heinous. You hear the faint “puh” and you know the room is going to get nasty real quick. lol
