If you are wondering why I’d do a post explaining my weirdness, blame the Eclectic Contrarian. He had the gall to nominate me for a challenge in which I should post something weird. Sure, I could’ve gotten away with posting a goofy meme or YouTube video but I like to go above and beyond (and not follow the rules). Okay, okay, so it’s more I got inspired instead of doing the challenge at all, whatever. Basically, I’m just going to let my freak flag fly.

Forget the face, just LOOK at how white that lip color makes my teeth!

First off, never allow me to look up conspiracy theories, urban legends and DEFINITELY don’t let me watch horror movies. Even though under normal circumstances, I’d dismiss such things as nonsense, but after reading articles or seeing a movie I get hyper-paranoid. Hell, the things I read or see don’t even have to be in the realm of reality. I’ll go to sleep convinced there is a psychotic clown under my bed and Voldemort’s outside my window waiting to turn me into a horcrux.

Secondly, I always have a song in my head. Always. Right now, there’s a song from Jesus Christ Superstar. It’s “What’s the Buzz” in case you were wondering.

Oftentimes, my responses to people will come out in song verse. I don’t sing them, but I say them like its regular conversation. And YES, It’s NOTICEABLE. I’ll be like, “Ugh, when do we ride into Jerusalem?” (That lyric is from “What’s the Buzz” by the way) and people will look at me strangely before they realize it’s my way of saying I’m getting impatient to leave and have this damn song stuck in my head. THERE IS NOTHING NORMAL ABOUT THIS.

This is literally me randomly doing a dance at work.

Lastly… I break into random dance at work. Everyone will be stressed out and crabby and before you know it, the Cha-Cha Slide is on and everyone starts clapping their hands. My boss has even caught me at it but was totally cool because apparently morale gets raised when you make everyone dance. Who knew?

I’ve raised my freak flag, I make no sense and do strange things. Surely I’m not the only one?

  • Sounds perfectly reasonable!

I break into song and dance all the time. I hear the word war, I’ll start singing “huh, what is it good for….”, I hear the word tomorrow, I start singing “tomorrow’s a day away…”, I hear the word stop, I’ll respond with “in the name of love” immediately.

Sometimes when my colleague is on the phone speaking with a client, I’ll start meowing. And then I’ll go over to hissing. Then back to meowing. She hates how much she loves it.

I like to remind people that drinking animal blood keeps the spine straight. When I tell people for the first time and they give me a disturbed look, I tell them it’s from a funny tv show (Dr Spaceman at 30 Rock).

I always have a song in my head too. At the moment it’s Tracey Ullman’s Breakaway.

    • Ha! We are very similar! I have words that trigger my “song-itis” as well! Whenever I have to ask any one to bring me something I immediately want to sing, “bring it on down to Omeletville!” from the SNL skit.

Lol about the hissing and meowing! Totally sounds like something I’d do! I once took a picture on Snapchat in which the filter had me wearing glasses and a mustache basically making me look like Kip from Napoleon Dynamite. I proceeded to print out a dozen wallet sized pictures and hid them in various places for people to find. It was great hearing things like, “guys, I think Kristen is in the refrigerator!” It’s been two years and people are still finding them! 🤣😂🤣

I love the idea of throwing comedic lines to people, I bet the reactions are priceless!

The current song stuck in my head is the Regina Spektor song at the beginning of Orange is the New Black. You know, about how animals are trapped til the cage is full.

I feel like I’d totally get you if we ever met in person! 😄

  • The Eclectic Contrarian

    How did I miss this??

The awesomest post I’ve seen of yours yet!!

  • Oh my gosh, I’m going to see Jesus Christ Superstar soon & I had never heard of it before. You’re the first person who has ever mentioned it. Was it a good one?! I’d love to be around someone like you, you sound like such a breath of fresh air & so full of light!! <3

    • I would LOVE to see Jesus Christ Superstar, the actual musical! I’ve only ever seen the movie, and that’s because my mom doubled as the Sunday school teacher and made me rewatch it every year with the class. I actually liked the movie and the soundtrack is pretty great! I have a feeling that you’ll think of me as soon as they start singing, “When do we ride into Jerusalem?” lol.

I’d love to be around you too! You always seem like such a genuine person with no BS. You don’t find people like that very often!
