I can’t say that I’m an expert on boardwalks. It’s not like I’ve ever lived near one or made a goal to visit all the boardwalks in the world or anything… But there’s a feeling that’s stuck with me since visiting the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach. That thing is that there must be a huuuuge difference between beach culture on the west coast and the east coast. I think the most confusing thing for me was the epidemic of fries and pizza on the beach. Both of those things sound like the most unappetizing food to consume while the sun

The Palladian – A Kimpton Hotel in Seattle, Washington
I never like to give a negative review. However, there are some things you just have to know about. I’m going to do this with a good old fashioned pros and cons list. First con, a VERY big con. They use sliding doors for the bathroom entrance. The door was OFF its runner meaning that it left a very big gap. Privacy much?! PRO: They immediately repaired the runner situation. CON: There was still a huge gap around the door. Big enough that I could fit both my arms around the door while it was closed. I then proceeded to
Week in Review #2
The week flew by, did it not? It’s such a beautiful day and I may have to go for a walk but first, it’s time to do my week in review! I was feeling chit chatty earlier this week and talked everything from building a website to discussing how incredible Simone Biles is. I’ve been using the Caribbean Black Soap from Fox Trading Co. and have decided I need to use more of their stuff. I’ve even got my boyfriend hooked. These are quality soap bars, make no mistake! I’m continuing with Barre classes and the hopes of having a
Craigdarroch Castle, Victoria, British Columbia
“I’m going to see a castle!” I said joyously. “Actually, it’s not technically a castle.” said basically everyone in response, because apparently all of humanity has been to Europe and seen real castles. Even the server at the Empress who overheard my comment had to chime in and say it was too small to be a castle. I found this annoying because despite being an adult, I still find the ideas of castles to be enchanting and full of magic, but damned if they aren’t right. Even Wikipedia uses quotations around the word “castle” to denote that Craigdarroch is merely
Fourth of July in Washington D.C.
It’s taken me over a month to post about the Fourth of July, but I DID IT (eventually) and here it is. This was going to be a special fourth of July for me. It had been on my bucket list to celebrate our nation *in* the nation’s capital for a while. Unfortunately, it turned into a political monster with the announcement of tanks and a salute to America, but all I really cared about was the fireworks. I’m so basic. Everyone gathered on the lawn of the Washington Monument. There was definitely a laidback party atmosphere. Although I couldn’t
Camp Fashion at the Met
I am well aware of the Met Costume Institute and I always hoped that one day I’d see an exhibit. I did, and you wouldn’t believe it but the theme was so perfect for someone like me to see. It was all about CAMP. Camp as in tacky as hell clothing. How great is that? It’s like they knew I was coming and put out all the best stuff just for me. Although I describe camp as “tacky” the Met has chosen to use a better description via their website, in which the exhibit “examines how the elements of irony,
Five Favorite Things – July 2019
It seems ALL my favorites this month involve beating the sun and surviving traveling! Totally apropos for my lifestyle in the month of July! The Sunhat – I’ve already waxed poetic about this straw hat but I truly do love it! It’s fashionable and helped keep my face and scalp from getting scorched by the sun. Bonus points for all the compliments I got while wearing it! This old H&M bucket bag – I dug this out of the bowels of my closet and its been the perfect little bag to lug around lakes and beaches. Plus, I love the design on
Bad Blogging and Vacation Recovery
I’m so tired. Why is it that sometimes you need a vacation after a vacation? I should hashtag this as #FirstWorldProblems. However, I am going to be an exceptionally bad blogger today because my energy just isn’t as focused as it should be. I had to ransack the cabin we were staying in to look for my Beats headphones only to find them already packed and tucked inside my backpack. I mean just look at that last sentence. Rambling much, Kristen? Clearly I’ve been a complete mess since six o clock in the morning. So I’m going to show several
Coming Back…
I’ve been sleeping with spiders and showering with spiders and eating food while spiders watched me from their webs but it’s been worth it. I only ever feel relaxed after a week like this away from the everyday lifestyle that I tend to live. I’m on my way back today from the realm of no internet. I look forward to catching up on comments and all the other blog posts I’ve missed!
Please Hold Caller
I will be making a trip to Eastern Washington, to a remote area where an internet connection is unlikely. Please forgive me for neglecting any comments. Sometimes though, it does a body good to both unwind and unplug. In the meantime, some posts will go up because I did sorta kinda plan my absence. Enjoy the sun and for those on the east coast and midwest, please stay cool. That heat wave looks vicious.
