This recipe is from the Vegan Cookbook for Beginners
There are times where I fancy that I’ll be one of those gals who can home make anything. That I can be some faux Martha Stewart who grabs herbs from my backyard and whips up something fantastic that has everyone saying, “Daaaamn girl, how’d you make this so good?”
That’s not my lifestyle, but I like to pretend. So when I saw this recipe for Zesty Citrus Dressing, I couldn’t help but think that making your own dressing was so Martha. AND it’s healthy. Besides, we are in autumn now and I had hopes that this dressing would have the magical capabilities to transport me back to summer. I was totally having a moment where I was living in dreamland. Don’t worry, reality will catch up with me.
Since I don’t normally have healthy stuff in my refrigerator, I had to throw together a rather weak salad. I had some bagged salad and although the recipe said this paired well with oranges, I didn’t have those, so in went some strawberries.
Guess what? This combo did not work. Too much citrus. It was a tropical burst in my mouth in the worst way possible. I blame the strawberries and in retrospect I should’ve ran to the store and grabbed some arugula because I’m *pretty* sure that would’ve balanced out the flavors of the dressing much better.
Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Next time around, I’ll know better. And you know what? I bet Martha screwed up a few recipes in her day too.
I always wonder how they do that. I can follow a recipe but I cannot come up with something delicious all on my own. And yes, I’m sure Martha has had a ton of mistakes. I like to think that she follows recipes she finds on Pinterest. 🤣🤣
You know, there is a science behind it that I just don’t understand—especially with baking! What is the formula for cake?! It’s craaaazy.
Yaaaas, I like it! Martha with a Pinterest is hell on wheels!
Heck yes Martha had mistakes, we all do! There is nothing wrong with trying and failing, it’s only wrong if you don’t try at all!
Yessss! Words to live by!
